FINANCIAL CLEARANCES FOR 2018 REGISTRATION

 

There are two requirements that need to be complied with in order to obtain financial clearance for registration:

1.      Payment of the required registration fees, and

2.      Payment of the outstanding fees through the available concessions.

 

Both these requirements have to be complied with prior to obtaining financial clearance to register.

 

1.  Registration without payment of registration fees

 

The following categories of students will be allowed to register without payment of registration fees:

1.1       All students who have applied and qualify for the DHET gap funding grant.

1.2       All students whose studies are fully funded for the 2018 academic year. An original letter confirming funding for 2018 is required and should be sent to the Student Funding offices.

 

2.  Registration without settling the outstanding debt

 

The following categories of students will be allowed to register without settling their outstanding debt:

 

2.1      All NSFAS qualifying (financially and academically) students who have applied but have not yet received confirmation of funding from NSFAS. The student must produce proof (usually an sms with a reference number) of the NSFAS application.

2.2      All NSFAS qualifying (financially and academically) students who are funded for the 2018 academic year.

2.3      All students whose studies are fully funded for the 2018 academic year. An original letter confirming funding for 2018 is required and should be sent to the Student Funding offices.

2.4      All students with outstanding debt of up to R10 000 as at 31 December 2017.

2.5      All students who received NSFAS funding in previous years. These students are required to complete the DHET/UKZN acknowledgement of debt (AoD) form.

2.6      All students with a combined gross annual family income up to R350 000. These students are required to complete the UKZN acknowledgement of debt (AoD) and repayment plan form.

 

All other students with outstanding debt will only be allowed to register on completion of the following:

·                Payment of 65% of the outstanding debt limited to a maximum amount of R30 000 if registering for tuition only and R60 000 if registering for tuition and residence; and

·                Completion of a repayment arrangement for the remaining debt through the University’s Acknowledgement of Debt (AoD) process.

 

Printed copies of the all the forms are also available at any of the fees offices on campus.
